Coffeyville, KS Humanities Residency, Sept. 22-26

Heidi will do a program for the Coffeyville Humanities Project entitled “Mountain Roots, Mountain Music: West Virginia.” She will present it at the Coffeyville Community College on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 10:30 am in the Theatre; plus in senior centers, care centers and selected Caney High School classes.

Heidi’s program will present stories and songs about West Virginia, from its birth as a state during the Civil War to the melting pot of immigrants working side by side that led to ongoing customs, language, and music found there today. West Virginia is the only Appalachian state located entirely in the mountains, and the land itself has helped preserve traditions and older ways of life. Come learn about the real rednecks and hillbillies.
